Originating in 1932, Modern Design and Construction is a third generation full-service design/build firm based in Providence, Rhode Island. Residential and commercial clients entrust their building projects to this legacy company, which has become one of New England’s oldest and most established builders. The company’s comprehensive knowledge of the design/build process provides a valuable resource that architects and designers rely upon to realize their visions.

Design/Build Process
Modern Design and Construction is the single point of responsibility for the entire project. Therefore, our design/build project delivery system provides a significant time and cost savings to our clients. Our firm provides quality control for the entire construction process as well as for the day-to-day decision making process. The design/build system is one of the oldest forms of construction and is a return to the fundamentals of the “master builder” approach. This means that the builder is the key figure for organizing the construction project and is responsible to the owner for any defects or delays on the project.

Millwork Capabilities
Modern Design and Construction nationally recognized architectural woodwork capabilities insure that each client’s cabinetry is manufactured to A.W.I. monumental standards. All millwork is designed and crafted in our original 50,000 square foot manufactory which dates back to 1932.
